Full-color TFT dashboard provides a wealth of information to rider via the thumb-wheel control. Dashboard angle is adjustable to eliminate glare for officers of any height.
Integrated radio head and map light mounting is standard equipment on the new R 1300 RT-P, thereby facilitating quick yet secure installation of the radio control head. Combined with the standard radio antenna mounting at the rear, the RT-P is ready for any police radio installation without purchasing extra mounts. The mounting will also facilitate the tandem mounting of a police video system display / control head while retaining easy access to the ignition switch.
The new emergency lighting system by FMS Accessories, will provide the latest lighting technology available on a police motor. The system is easily expandable with pre-wired circuits for rear, rear side and front side lighting.
Integration is further enhanced with the rear light module, which combines all the lighting system components previously mounted on the rear of the police motor together in an easily accessible controller module.
Side case interior illumination is now a standard feature of the Authority motorcycle. The integrated interior lighting system will illuminate the contents of the top-opening side cases. A convenient yet extremely practical feature when loading / unloading at night, in
low light conditions, parking garages, etc.
The R 1300 RT now has a smartphone charging compartment that is placed directly in the driver‘s reach. In contrast to the R 1250 RT, it is easier to open, and significantly larger smartphones can be inserted. It is now set to USB-C for charging. Wireless charging is not available anymore. The storage compartment is actively ventilated. In addition, the cover now has a clip for several cards.
Smartphones comparable to an iPhone 16 Pro Max including a case can fit in the charging compartment.
The vehicle’s new wind-weather protection concept includes variable wind deflectors, integrated into the design. The advantage is that you can bring enough fresh air to the driver when needed (e.g. in city traffic, country roads in hot weather), but you can also have even better wind protection compared to the current K52 if you bring the fairing to the top position.
In automated mode D, gear shifts are automatically triggered according to the riding situation. The target gear is selected essentially depending on engine speed, throttle position, lean angle and brake operation. The riding mode adapts the gear selection to the intended drivetrain characteristics. Even with automatic gear selection in mode D, the rider can request a gear change at any time using the foot shift lever without leaving mode D. The switch back to automatic gear selection occurs when a seamless transition is possible.
The clutch operation during launch and stopping is completely performed by the ASA. The engine speed for launching is adjusted depending on the throttle actuation to enable a controlled acceleration. When coasting down to a stop, the clutch is opened before engine idle speed is reached.
BMW Shift Cam technology enables variation of the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side. In addition, the intake camshafts are designed for asynchronous opening of the two intake valves, resulting in enhanced swirling of the fresh incoming air-fuel mixture, and, therefore, more effective combustion. Other technical changes to the engine relate to the camshaft drive – now with a toothed chain (previously a roller chain) – an optimized oil supply, twin-jet injection valves and a new exhaust system.
The R 1300 RT-P sets the standard for electrical power management while providing fast and efficient connection of police equipment. The GMSF (Body Controller authority) controls all special authority circuit outputs and charging of the auxiliary battery. There is no need for fuses, the GMSF monitors and protects outputs, controlling circuits for all police accessories:
