Cycle World Adventure Rally-Rockies Edition
This event is for adventure riders of all skill levels and consists of a series of destinations. Most destinations will require some back road riding, the difficult ones will require technical off road riding skills.
Points are awarded based on the number of destinations reached and for special skills test. Each team of 2 to 4 riders selects which destinations to go to and the routes to take there, based on the rider skill and types of bikes. GPS will be needed as well as a smart phone as scoring will be updated via Instagram (teams will send a picture to the base from each destination they reach). Tom Kendall is getting a Garmin Montana FPS and has an AT&T wireless tablet but it would be best to have several sets on the team.
An adventure bike, such as a BMW R1200GS, which Tom owns, or another dual sport bike of 650cc or larger will be able to reach most of the destinations. He would like to ride his KTM 400EXC because he can get anywhere with it, but the organizers say the R1200GS will make it to more places quickly.
$650 Single Occupancy
$550 Double Occupancy
$200 Non Rider
All of which include meals and lodging at the Inn at Tominichi
If you are an intermediate or advanced rider with some experience riding gravel and rocks and are interested in attending the rally as part of a team from Michigan, please contact:
