Motorcycles in Winer?

How do you handle the winter blues of motorcycle ownership? Or as others refer to it, Parked Motorcycle Syndrome (PMS). While we know that motorcycle and snow doesn't mix the greatest, it doesn't make it any easier to sit by and NOT ride. Here are some ideas of what you can do to sub do the winter motorcycle blues.

  • Ride somewhere warm

While riding somewhere warm is a general idea, it can be accomplished a many number of ways. Taking your bike on a trailer down south for a long weekend get-a-way is a great option. Flying somewhere warm to rent a bike for 4 days is another option that doesn't require a trailer! You can also visit a friend somewhere warm and ride their bike. Wait, you don't have that friend yet? Join a club and meet more great motorcyclists!

  • Plan future trips

Even if you don't have time to plan a trip to ride to Alaska, you can plan any size trip. Break down your daily commute to 3-5 different paths you can take during the week. Plan a weekend get-a-way to the UP. Plan how you want to camp on your motorcycle, what you will pack and where you will go. Or, plan the trip to Alaska and ask if anyone you know wants to go with!

  • FARKLE your bike

Fancy Accessory Really Kool Likely Expensive. Okay, Farkles don't have to be expensive, but it is nice to add those little (or not so little) things to your bike that make things so much easier. Do you need a helmet lock on your bike so you can rest easier when it comes to going out places on your bike? Have you been waiting on getting the tank protector for a time that you are riding less? Did you want to install a part that you feel may take longer than the directions say it will? Now is the perfect time!

  • Join a Club

There are lots of options around for local motorcycle clubs. From BMW Specific clubs to sport bike clubs to Facebook groups, to planning weekly rides, there are lots of ways you can join other riders. These are like minded folks that can give you someone to bounce ideas to and identify what part of your plan you aren't seeing. Or what they have done in the past that has or hasn't worked. Even if you aren't big on group rides, you can find others that feel similar to you and just go out in 2 or 3 people groups.
